We live in an exciting area rich in archaeological and fossil treasures.
Together with Ms. Ute Hauff, who had been in charge of the Urweltmuseum Hauff in Holzmaden for 25 years, we developed the idea of creating one of these beautiful fossils artistically.
We decided on a sea lily, approx. 180 million years old, found in the slate quarries of the fossil site around Holzmaden / Teck.
First we had to make a 3-D scan so that we could use this data to make the necessary embossing tools. After finding the most suitable material for the minting, we started pre-minting the gold. In the second step, the structure was finally shaped, which gave the object its final, perfect character.
Ms. Ute Hauff accompanied the entire production process and, through her precise knowledge of the object, was able to confirm that the embossed leaf reflects the character of the sea lily very well. This is how an artifact of unique beauty was created.
